Looks like yoghurt, tastes like yoghurt, but it isn't yoghurt

Rediscovering Laziness

April 20th, 2006 James

Well as the past few weeks have featured the first day in which I’ve done absolutely no work this year, I think I’ve been entitled to the lack of work. The past few weeks have been devoted to catching up with 24 (now on season 3, wow!) Harry Potter (on The Order of the Phoenix, on the audio books narrated by Stephen Fry) and watching various films and playing various games, including Battlefield 2 and various others that I’ve been completing in quick succession. I’ve also done a few more reviews for Two Bit.
Unfortunately however, I was looking forward to going home this Easter since last year’s Easter holiday constituted of me sitting here at uni trying to complete various courseworks and managing to get home during the 3 week’s ‘break‘, for a whopping day. However it was not to be because like last semester I had completely ran out of money, finding out alarmingly when I checked my balance before going into Tesco and finding that I had 23p left of my overdraft and having to go home empty handed. Luckily Luke was to the rescue and lent me enough money to eat for the next few weeks, though I thought it was irresponsible to go and buy luxuries such as the train ride home, more so because my mum had already offered a lift back. Although I couldn’t take her up on the offer because the only time she could do it would be a week before my only exam when I should be revising (yeah I know that is now and I’m writing a blog!). So anyway apologies to the people that I was unable to see back home, believe me I would rather have gone home than stay here on my own with only Stephen Fry and Jack Bauer to keep me company!

But anyway everyone is back now and when mum visited she took me out to an air museum near York, which was pretty cool to see some of the neat vehicles in Battlefield 2 in real life although most of the stuff there was more from the WWII era. However, reassuringly the trip to the museum proved by way of various simulators that if I was born, god forbid, before the second world war and had to serve during it, I would be proficient in an anti-aircraft turret on a bomber plane, pretty decent with a Bren gun and I was also really rather proud of my marksmanship score with the Enfield rifle. Well my training at Leicester Uni’s rifle club (I turned up to the training session and didn’t have time for the rest!) finally paid off! Looking back at student life as it is almost over for us, I really wish that some of the many clubs that were on offer at the University of Leicester were offered here. I know our campus is the forgotten part of the University of Hull, which miracurously gets remembered by candidates during the Student Union elections and quickly forgotten after they are elected, along with their manifesto promises, and I realise that our campus may be underfunded, but it really would have been cool to have stuff going on here, like a rifle club, or something to get our course more involved with other years. But I guess it’s just not going to happen anyway and I may as well stop caring about it since there’s not long to go.

It seems that the time to be lazy has been and gone far too quickly for my liking and I must get firmly into revision mode ready for the exam next week. After that I think that I may entertain myself and others with the idea of me getting a proper job before realising that it is inevitable and a necessity. The time to start doing a proper site area for this domain name is getting close too because I have recently been treated with a sketch of a female pink wookie which I asked a pretty decent artist to do. Kneeley now has a new site (courtesy of Capt. Redmuff) with all of her cool artwork on it, so I suggest you go and look at it in awe and of course the anticipation of the upcoming pinkwookie artwork to be displayed on the site. I suppose I should start working out what is actually going on it, apart from the horrendous code.

I shall leave you all with more amusing information from this blog’s most recent top search queries for this month so far:

  1. haystack eaten by horses
  2. gone off yoghurt
  3. matthew stabeler (?!! Was that, in fact Matthew Stabeler himself?!!)
  4. haystack needle storage
  5. female wookiee name
  6. sheryl tweedy
